The role
Our facility at Barwon Prison is looking for a Primary Care Nurse (PCN), Permanent Part-Time, 12 month Maternity Leave Cover (0.8 FTE) to join their primary care team. Barwon Prison is a maximum-security men's correctional facility located in Lara, Victoria. Working with this patient group is rewarding as the healthcare you provide can have a positive impact for a lifetime. You will deliver a Nurse led model of care, screening new patients as well as comprehensive assessment and development of case management plans for longer term patients.

You would be flexible to work 8 hour shifts on a 7 day rotating roster, with the earliest shift starting at 05:30 and the latest shift finish time would be 20:30. 

Essential experience and attributes include the following (selection criteria):

  • Registered General Nurse Qualification
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • A minimum of one year full time post graduate nursing experience 
  • Recent nursing experience in an acute and/or primary healthcare setting
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced PC skills
